QUICK APPLE & FIG CINNAMON ROLLS

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of ready-rolled puff pastry

  • 200 ml apple sauce (pureed apples)

  • 1 apple, finely sliced

  • 2 figs, finely sliced

  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tbsp milk or nut milk

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pastry:

    • Unroll the puff pastry sheet onto a flat surface. Spread the apple sauce evenly across the surface, leaving about one inch clear along the bottom edge of the longer side.

  2. Add Fruits:

    • Finely slice the apple and figs, ensuring to keep the slices thin and even. Arrange these slices neatly over the layer of apple sauce.

  3. Season:

    • Sprinkle the ground cinnamon evenly over the sliced fruits, adding a warm and spicy aroma.

  4. Seal the Edge:

    • Dip your finger or a pastry brush in milk or nut milk, and moisten the inch of pastry you left clear at the bottom. This will help seal the roll.

  5. Form the Roll:

    • Start from the top long edge opposite the milk-brushed edge and gently roll the pastry towards the bottom edge. Press down on the moistened edge to seal the pastry into a log shape.

  6. Slice and Bake:

    • Cut the log into 10 equal pieces. Place each piece on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush a little more milk on top of each roll to give a nice golden finish when baked.

    • Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 18 minutes until golden and puffed up.

  7. Cool and Serve:

    • Allow the rolls to cool on the tray for about 10 minutes before serving. This rest time helps the flavors meld together beautifully.
